₱300 Getaway: Manuel Uy Beach

It is no question that the Philippines gets hotter AND HOTTER by the minute. So, for our first adventure, the barkada wanted to cool down with the refreshing waves of the sea.

Upon searching for nearby beaches that are easy on the eyes (and easy on the budget), we’ve come across Manuel Uy Beach which is in Calatagan, Batangas- only three cities away from ours!

The directions are as follows:

Lipa to Lemery. Jeepney. ₱50.00 per head.

  • Ride a jeepney from Robinsons Lipa to Lemery.

Lemery to Balayan. Jeepney. ₱ 50.00 per head.

  • Ride another jeepney from Lemery to Balayan Terminal.

Balayan to Calatagan. Jeepney. ₱50.00 per head.

  • Ride jeepney from Balayan Terminal, then ask the jeepney driver if he can drive you straight to Brgy. Sta. Ana, Calatagan , Batangas where Manuel Uy Beach is. If not, you can ride a tricycle.

Upon arriving at Manuel Uy Beach, the caretakers will ask ₱30.00 for environmental fee. Walk some more and another set of caretakers will ask for ₱50.00 as day tour entrance fee. If you will stay overnight, you have to pay ₱100.00 as fee. You may bring a tent, but you will pay another ₱50.00 for pitching fee.

There are plenty of space in Manuel Uy Beach, and you may set yourselves anywhere within it. More so, a lot of parking space is available so it is also a good idea to bring your own vehicles.

No comfort rooms are built at the beach itself, but there are restrooms and changing rooms available in nearby houses. Just walk for a minute or so.

A lot of vendors go back and forth the beach. They sell dirty ice creams, puka shells, and pearls. Fruit shakes, smoothies, and fries are also available in a stall, priced from ₱80.00 up. Still, we suggest you bring your own food because there are no nearby restaurants, fast food chains, or carinderia.

The over-all atmosphere in Manuel Uy Beach was very chill. Tents surround the shore. Some tourists whip out their guitars and sing, while others play card games. There were a lot of people when we visited, but there is plenty of room for everyone.

The water is surprisingly clear AND CLEAN (Let’s keep it that way). When you first submerge yourself in water, you will find algae and sea plants floating, which made the warm, shallow parts a little clouded. But when you get to the deeper side, the water gets clearer and colder AND A LOT MORE ENJOYABLE TO SWIM IN.

Some nearby attractions are rock formations and the neighboring stilts resort.

Ultimately, we highly recommend Manuel Uy Beach to fellow barkadas who want quick and chill #BudgetBarkadaGetaways. Surely one for the books!
